@sharon thats true, the basic of every relationship certainly requires honesty...previous events have made me understand that people most time add a lil exaggeration about their personality and that sucks, coz at the end of the day you find someone getting hurt

Whether it's a first meeting for coffee, or an initial email, I vote for honesty in presenting the 'basics' of who you are. I don't necessarily want to hear about your last episode of unrequited love:) I do however, want to get a realistic sense of who I'm meeting, in terms of life values, relationship goals, personality, communication style, etc. As an over 55 single, I've learned over time, that 'initial' impressions can be misleading! That, of course, goes for both men and women - and it often leads to lots of 'unnecessary' issues down the road. In a perfect world we'd all be honest in presenting who we are to a potential love interest. In the meantime, I've learned to trust (or at least give an ear to) my instincts - just in case, what I'm seeing and hearing is less than 100% real. I also keep tabs on the part of myself that 'hears what it wants to hear." That too, can get in the way of genuine relating - at any time.
